Shawsheen Avenue Wilmington residence damaged by a pickup truck in a crash on Wednesday. The two men accused of crashing the vehicle have been charged.

A pair of men from Holyoke and Wilmington were accused of crashing a pickup truck into a Wilmington home while driving under the influence of alcohol on Thursday evening, demolishing the property’s front porch, before fleeing from the scene after the incident occurred, police said.

The driver, Timothy Fortin, 31, of Holyoke, has been charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, speeding, marked lane violation, possession of a class A substance and possession of a class B substance, according to authorities.

The vehicle’s passenger, Robert Dupont, 54, of Wilmington, has been charged with possession of a class A substance and possession of a class B substance, officials said.

At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Wilmington Police Department said officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle that crashed into a home on Shawsheen Avenue in Wilmington.

911 callers reported that the blue pickup truck had fled the scene after striking the house, police said. Officers subsequently located the vehicle and found two occupants a short distance away.

No residents were injured during the crash, police said.

An exterior porch attached to the Shawsheen Avenue residence was destroyed during the crash. However, an evaluation made by the Wilmington Building Inspector said the family will still be able to remain in the home.

Fortin and Dupont were transported to Lahey Clinic for medical treatment and released several hours later, according to police. The two are expected to be arraigned at Woburn District Court on Friday.
